Too Much LIght Makes the Baby Go Blind

Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind from the Neo Futurists
What: Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind
What? It's a play (actually, 30 plays performed in 60 minutes). It's part of the Capital Fringe Fest.
When: Through July 29
Where: Woolly Mammoth Theater

The show apparently has a cult following in Chicago, its home base. The theater company is called the Neo Futurists. I won't say more because part of the fun is the surprise of the format, but let me just say it's a mix of funny and serious, all written by the performers, and it is just refreshingly inventive and a blast to watch. Cell Phone Photo Essay

Wedding Dance, a photo by DC artist Robert WaltonInteresting online photo essay from DC artist Robert Walton over at Team Wet Dog - all the photos were taken with his cell phone, and let me just tell you, they don't look anything like the photos I take with my phone! I've loved Robert's Mount Pleasant Photos since I discovered them last year, and think some of these new images are pretty gorgeous, too, like the one above, titled "Wedding Dance."

Blog rhymes with frog

I am on a see-saw with this blog these days. I go through periods where I can't wait to post something every day, and periods (like the last week) when I just don't have anything to say. And I'm not gonna post just for the sake of it. Except for right now.

Ok, I do have something to say: this week I've tried to get back into daily journal writing and it is crazy how much it's like oxygen for me. I think, "eh, no big deal, I won't write in my journal today," and then today turns into many days, and then I am a sad, sad camper. Then I pick up a pen and start writing and feel alive, and present, in a whole new way.

In The Artist's Way (aka my gospel), Julia Cameron writes that it's harder not to create than it is to just create. For some reason that's a lesson I keep needing to learn over and over again.
