Local singer-songwriter Kate Klim
Local singer-songwriter Kate Klim recently crashed her car. Turns out someone had dropped a sofa in the middle of Route 50 in Maryland, leaving several cars, hers included, to dodge it. She managed to miss both the couch and the other car, but ended up careening into the guard rail. She’s fine, with the exception of a few scratches from broken glass, but her car is officially totaled. She explains,
Without going into all the details, I can say that getting me into another car is an unexpected and costly endeavor. I’ve decided to make the best of this, and put out a limited edition CD of unreleased songs. I just spent all day recording here at my house, and I think the end product is something personal and special – just me, and the piano.
I expect to only make about a hundred of these, shipped straight from me to you. The asking price is $20, but feel free to pay more or less, depending on what makes sense for you.
I admire that Klim – who has opened for artists like Shawn Colvin – is using her craft to help make a bad situation better. You can sample the CD on Klim’s MySpace page, or buy it here.
P.S. She’ll be performing at Artomatic on May 31.
