Miriam’s Kitchen provides healthy meals and other services to the sizable homeless population in downtown DC (Michelle Obama helped raise the org’s profile with a visit there last month). They apparently generate the bulk of their revenue from their annual 100 Bowls of Compassion gala, and have put together a clever campaign to raise the event’s visibility. In their own words:
“As a tribute to our 100 Bowls of Compassion gala, we are selecting two DC residents to ‘bowl’. We’ll go to their office, home or car and plaster their walls with hundreds of bowls. All in an effort to raise awareness of hunger and homelessness in our Nation’s Capital. “
What, exactly, does it mean to get bowled? See for yourself:
The video was produced by Third Floor Productions, which has offices in DC and North Carolina. Thanks to Brian at Third Floor for letting me know about this project.
Cast your vote by April 27th at midnight to see your friends get bowled – or, just buy a ticket to the gala. You can also make a donation or sign up to volunteer.
