Design Opportunity: "Reasons We Love Washington"

Washingtonian magazine is looking for design ideas for the cover of its May issue:

The theme is “Reasons We Love Washington,” so we’re asking our readers to come up with a fitting concept, design, or photo to feature….

…To be clear: We’re not asking for you to send in actual physical designs (though, if you have the time and inclination, we won’t turn those away!). We’d just like you to send in some ideas describing what you think would be an excellent cover for the “Reasons We Love Washington” issue.

Get more details on the contest.

I’m curious to see the content of the May issue. Author Richard Florida recently characterized DC as a suburb of New York City – will Washingtonian offer a pep talk to sooth the ruffled egos of those offended by his comments? Will “Reasons We Love Washington” be dominated by reasons Washingtonian readers love Maryland and Virginia, or will it be a portrait of the city that rings true for those of us who actually live here? And how will arts and culture rank?

In the meantime, check out the Creative DC version of Reasons We Love Washington, compiled on the eve of the inauguration in an effort to help visitors see the “real” DC while they were in town.

Leave it to a New Yorker to make a comment like that.

Wow. Just wow.

When are you two moving to Baltimore. ;)

I know. I’m past getting mad about it – something like this bubbles up every couple years or so (I remember a Frank Rich piece on why NY was so much better than DC).

Baltimore, eh? ;)

i hate when there are best bars or whatever in DC and half are in MD or VA. hellllloooo . . . no matter how hard you pretend you don’t live in the burbs, that actually isn’t the district.
