‘Just a quick post to let you know about a couple of cool projects designed to showcase individuals’ experiences at the polls:

So far, neither site has any submissions from DC. According to the Citizen Media Law Project, DC law doesn’t explicitly prohibit recording at polling places, but because I have no desire to go to jail, please understand that I am not a legal expert and you need to decide for yourself whether DC law allows such activity!

I’ll post links to any interesting videos and/or photos from the DC area that I discover on either site, or elsewhere online…and please send any links my way, or share them using the comments feature below.

See also: my blog post for P.O.V. (a PBS indie film series) about documenting election ‘08 online. I’ve recently started blogging for P.O.V. every other week about the intersection between documentary filmmaking and the Web – everything from how filmmakers are using the Web, to the art of documentary storytelling online, using tools like blogs and content-sharing sites like Flickr. Check it out!

I videoed my ballot for my own records. Y’know … in case anything goes down.
