The Power of Retreat

Jordan, Cosmo and I are currently in Rehoboth for a few days, and let me just tell you – the pleasures of being at the beach in the off season are not to be missed. The weather is storybook perfect – crisp air, blue skies, sunshine – and Cosmo is allowed on every inch of the beach, where he has been having the time of his life prowling about, playing fetch, and basking like a seal in the sun. There’s hardly anyone else here, and the stress I was carrying with me just a few days ago has detached from my shoulders and floated out into the stratosphere.

I highly recommend planning mini-retreats for yourself every couple months (if not more frequently!) – a change of scenery can be such a powerful way to recharge your batteries and refocus on what matters most. A retreat can be a daytrip or even just an afternoon in the park. What are your favorite local places to retreat?

I definitely prefer beachgoing in the fall, or off-season, when all the tourists are gone. Why would anyone go in the summer?? Enjoy your break.
