Other than death and taxes, are there any certainties?

And doesn’t death (or our reaction to and fear or acceptance or it) inspire some of our greatest art? Or at least some of our greatest heavy metal?

(Taxes, not so much. But Taxman is a good song.)

Interesting quote. Don’t know quite what I take from it, but it gets ya thinking.

Yet all too often we keep one hand on the railing, just in case, only creating on an almost surface level. Thanks for the quote it has me thinking now too :)

Very true. To really free ourselves to create, we have to abandon the comfort of knowing how things will turn out. Of course, the irony is that we never know how things will turn out – but so often we convince ourselves that this or that path is the “safe” choice, and this other path is the “creative” one – the one where we abandon our illusion of prescience and really expose ourselves. I think the creative choice actually gives you more control over the outcome – not how people perceive your creation, but rather what you are making of yourself and your life.
